DRAMA STILLS: Hong Dae Fashion in Mary Stays Out All Night

Among the factors that makes a typical drama is its setting, and its characters. And basically, clothes come with character—each one stand out because of what she wear. Their personality shows by the freedom of their clothing and the veiwers can easily see if the character is easy going, tight, or seriously deep.

Mary Stays Out All Night / 매리는 외박중 (KBS2) Is a 16-part series lead by moon Geun Young, also known as Korea’s Little Sister. While she may have grown up entirely throughout time, her child-like features still exudes as she plays the role of Mary. And yes, we are not making a drama review here.

Mary, above, is seen with a DIY boho chic character—with long curly hair and  wide clothes for her easy going life. Her unique clothing made a sense for her simple character; down to earth with humble tastes. Rubber shoes matched her boho outfit, making it look comfortable inspite of the whole wight of her overall look.

The story is typically set in HongDae, popular for South Korea’s indie life. Her partner, Jang Geun Seok, sports a general indie air too. Long hair, and a visual kei look that has been so common to many guitar artists. In Japan, rock band members are as beautiful as the girls, and perhaps this has been a inspiration to Moo Gyeol’s kind of character.

Seo Jeon (kim Hyo Jin) is an actress— less popular one; but this does not mean that the girl have no flair for clothing. In the drama, she has feisty and daring taste— something which is considered to be tasteful in her country.

Jung In (Kim Jae Wook), on the other hand, wears a serious atmosphere. Clad in his well fitting suit, his personality says it all: mysteriously blank. His character is unlikely readable—so does his bland clothing.

IS THIS IN YOUR CLOSET? Gorgeously polished black decor shoes in rouge of embellishments can spark up a new meaning to a formal attire. Les chaussures Church’s: il m’a fallu du temps pour y arriver. Longtemps, elles ont été trop chères pour moi. Puis je les ai trouvées trop classiques. Jusqu’au jour où mon envie de brogues parfaites a pris le dessus. J’ai alors découvert une qualité de fabrication et un confort inédits. Des détails tels que la pointure écrite à la main sur la doublure en cuir ou les œillets métalliques des lacets invisibles de l’extérieur m’ont séduite. Ca n’est que plus tard que je me suis rendu compte qu’en plus, elles étaient vraiment increvables. Quand j’ai compris que, si je les entretenais correctement, elles m’accompagneraient toute ma vie, je n’ai plus raisonné en terme d’achat mais d’investissement. Même quand il s’est agit du modèle clouté ci-dessus, folie acquise sur un coup de tête lors de la Fashion Week de Milan.
